What are the parts of Medicare?
Part A of Medicare is hospital insurance. Part A Insurance is usually free as long as you are a U.S. Citizen who has worked for 10 years or 40 quarters.
- Helps to cover inpatient care in the hospital
- Helps to cover skilled nursing facilities, hospice, and home health care.
Part B of Medicare is Medical Insurance.
- It helps cover doctor's services and outpatient care.
- The standard rate in 2023 for Part B Insurance is $164.90 a month.
Part C of Medicare is Medicare Advantage plans. Medicare Advantage plans offer coverage for seniors administered by private insurance companies that are approved by medicare.
- Medicare Advantage plans include Both Part A and Part B benefits. They provide additional benefits such as Part D Prescription Drug coverage, Vision, Hearing, and Dental.
- Medicare Advantage plans are available in PPOs and HMOs.
- Medicare Advantage plans to cover in-network medical expenses with a co-pay. Normally, you do not have to meet a deductible/coinsurance.
Part D of Medicare is Prescription Drug Coverage. Part-D prescription drug plans are available helps through private insurance companies approved by Medicare.
- Helps cover the cost of outpatient prescription drugs
- Most Insurance companies offer 3 types of Part-D plans.
